Hi all. A look down memory lane. With the Hamilton Cup scheduled for next year after a long hiatus I thought I would share some of the following.
Noosa OCC has fielded Men and Women teams in both “round the island” and the 42k (change over) events. Also, several paddlers competed in one-man events.
In either 1993 or 1994 was the first time a Noosa OCC Women’s team competed in the Hammo “round the island race”. Was wild and woolly – see the photo.
In 1995 a Noosa OCC Women’s team again competed in Hammo “round the island race”. Things were a little more sedate – see the photo (Great timing).
In 1996 a Noosa OCC Women’s team competed in the Hammo Cup 42k change over race and came 1st – see photos. They won $6,000 that the club used to buy a new canoe – that was about the price back then.
The Noosa OCC men competed in several Hammo Cups 42k change over races – see a photo from the 1996 event.
Oh, just to note. In 1996 the Noosa OCC Master Women Team that won the Hamilton Cup were undefeated in every event they entered that year – mighty effort.
