What an awesome weekend away for our Noosa Crews at Port Stephens for the National Titles.
There was some very tough competition and extremely trying conditions particularly on Sunday for the long mixed course.
Noosa’s great results started on Friday in the singles and doubles craft.
Justin and Ros Richter taking Silver in MMX OC2.
Marco Rocco crossing the line 7th in GMM.
And to top it off Linda O’Connor taking Gold in her first Novice OC1 race!
Nicola Cameron – 7th in SMW – amongst some tough competition.
John Goller-5th – SMM- a huge lineup in this division.
Des Mabbott – 6th – GMM.
Followed by Glen Brown in 7th place-GMM.
Des actually placed 1st in PMM but due to not enough in this category had to race GMM! Awesome work!
Craig Tilley & Paz Hegarty- Silver in MMX.
Fantastic results in the Small craft.
Day 2- LONG COURSE
In a sprint to the line our GMW took out the Gold medal! These ladies fought to the end and came up the winners! Was so good to see (even though we were behind them )😂
MW-Hegarty- in a highly contested field took Bronze. These girls gave it there all. Very proud to have steered them over the line!
SMM-Bodo- coming in strong our men took Bronze.
GMM-Rocco- in a fight till the end as well taking Bronze also.
GMM- Henry-crossing the line in 6th place.
Great results Noosa!
Day 3- MIXED LONG
WOW- what a race. In what I can only describe as one of the toughest races I’ve had to steer-EVER! After talking to other steerers – this sentiment was definitely shared! Very windy and wild conditions! A bit of everything thrown in there.
SMMXX- Bodo- Unlimited- Gold. Was good to see clubs starting to race these new canoes which no doubt will be our sports future.
SMMX-Dinsey- crossing the line 7th.
GMMX-Rocco taking Silver.
Noosa also taking 3rd place.
MMX-Hegarty – over the moon taking Silver in our division.
Congratulations to Wendy Mabbott backing up after that to steer Port Macquarie GMW to Silver.
And finally to our NOVICE women.
You ladies were incredible- 4 of the crew backing up after that gruelling long course to cross the line in 4th place overall to take Gold in the Novice division. Pure grit and determination from these ladies- again an honour to steer you all!
A big thank you to Bodo for towing the canoes for us- yet again!
A big thanks to all for loading/unloading and rigging and for all the support!!
