Noosa Outrigger’s impress at National Titles

Noosa Outriggers brought home the goods after the 2014 National Sprint Titles and World Sprint Qualifiers for Outrigger Canoeing held at Kawana Lakes.
Master Mixed team – Greg Dinsey, Rose Edyvean, Kath Gentry, Peter Williams, Victoria James and Marco Rocco – clinched a win in the OC6 250m sprint, while various combinations of the above paddlers competed for places in the OC2 sprint events. Also in the Master’s category, Victoria James won silver in the 500m V1 rudderless canoe event, as well as bronze in the Senior Master Women’s V1.
The Golden Master Men – Ian Vivian, Harry Crockford, Graham Woods, Roger Arbuckle, Brian Rogers and Steve Wade – won first place in the 1000m OC6 event.
Golden Master Women’s competitors Janina Wade and Val Phillips also won gold as part of an OC6 250m sprint.
Golden Master OC2 winners included Rose Edyvean and Val Phillips and Rose Edyvean and Roger Arbuckle in the mixed 500m sprints. Senior Master OC2 competitors Rose Edyvean and Victoria James took out the silver medal , and Greg Dinsey and Marco Rocco the bronze in the 500m sprints.
OC1 event medallists, Roger Arbuckle, Craig Harris and Brian Rogers placed first, second and third respectively in Platinum and Golden Master’s divisions.
Noosa’s Platinum paddlers, who are aged 70 years or over, achieved wins in both OC6 and OC2 races. The OC6 team – Craig Harris, Di Arbuckle, Rosalie Eriksen, John McAlpin, Jo Terrans and Hugh Bingham – won both the 250m sprint, and the 500m sprint with a turn.
The OC2 gold medal winners were Craig Harris and Roger Arbuckle for the Platinum 500m Men’s sprint, Jo Terrans and Di Arbuckle for the Platinum 500m Women’s sprint, and Craig Harris and Di Abuckle in the Platinum mixed 500m sprint.
