Good Results for Noosa Paddlers – Currumbin
Original Post November 18, 2013
Noosa’s competitive OC1 and OC2 paddlers headed to Currumbin for the fourth race in this season’s series. Along with the weather, the competition is hotting up and the Noosa competitors were pleased to once again hold their own.
Results included Des Mabbott with a clear win in the 12k short course in the Senior Master Men’s Division. He then went on to race in the 18k long course, coming fourth in his division after the croppy conditions of the Currumbin bar took their toll. Harry Crockford came second in the short course Golden Masters Division, while John Goller put in a stellar performance to achieve third place in the fiercely contested long course in the Master Men’s Division.
In the Senior Master Women’s Division short course race, Victoria James achieved second, while the ongoing friendly rivalry between Wendy Mabbott and Pip Kay continued, with Pip narrowly beating Wendy home by seconds for them to come sixth and seventh respectively.
Results from the third race in the series held at Hervey Bay a few weeks ago have been finalised, and the official results confirm the Noosa paddlers doing well once again. Results included Des Mabbott first in both the short and long course races in the Senior Master Men’s Division, while John Goller achieved second in the long course in the Master Men’s Division. Pip Kay was second – and Wendy Mabbott a very close third – in the short course race in the Senior Master Women’s Division.
The fifth race in the series is being held on Sunday 20 October at Tweed Heads.
