Noosa Outriggers shine at Bundaberg Regatta

The Noosa Outrigger Canoe Club once again showed its prowess at the Bundaberg Outrigger Canoe Club’s Regatta on Saturday 24 August 2013.

Held at Burnett Heads in near perfect racing conditions, both OC1 and OC2 competitors from NOCC shone.

In the 9 km short course results included John Goller, 1st in the Master Men and Harry Crockford, 1st in the Golden Master Men. Also, after recovering very well from initial rudder problems, Des Mabbott achieved 1st in the Senior Master Men. Other commendable short course results were achieved by first time open ocean racers Martin Courtney, 3rd in the Master Men and Pippa Kay, 7th in the Senior Master Women.

Later in the day, results for the 14 km long course included John Goller, 1st in the Master Men and Des Mabbot, 1st in the Senior Master Men with a strong finish, and Wendy Mabbott and Rhonda Crockford who joined forces in an OC2 to achieve 3rd in the Senior Master Women.

The Bundaberg Outrigger Canoe Club hosted a successful event, which the NOCC members enjoyed both for the invaluable experience gained and the team bonding. They now look forward to the Fraser Coast Outrigger Canoe Club Regatta which will be held at Hervey Bay on 14 September 2013.
